Even Samsung’s cheap Samsung Galaxy A33 model has some surprises.
The Samsung Galaxy A33 enters the Galaxy lineup as a cheaper option than the Galaxy A53, which was also unveiled during Samsung’s phone presentation on March 17.
Given the specs released by Samsung, this new model could immediately be a strong contender for top-of-the-line position of cheap phones.
The Galaxy A33 makes a bid for the hearts and minds of bargain hunters by improving on some of the features of the Galaxy A32 model it replaces.
In certain circumstances, Samsung even integrates the features of the Galaxy A53 into the A33, further increasing the value of this cheaper device.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy A33, including how it compares to the Google Pixel 5a and iPhone SE 2022.

Price and availability of the Samsung Galaxy A33
Buying a Galaxy A33 costs about 800.00 KM.
It is only available in a variant with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space, however, the latter can be expanded with a microSD card.
The Galaxy A33 is not only cheaper than the A53 but also cheaper than the Pixel 5a and iPhone SE 2022.
At the moment, the A33 will only be available in Europe, where it will be available for purchase from April 22.
Samsung Galaxy A33 design
The Galaxy A33, like the Galaxy A53, has a sloping camera bump, rather than a contour cut like the Galaxy S22, which joins the camera array to the side of the phone.
Instead of the punch notch featured on other Samsung phones, the Galaxy A33 has a teardrop-shaped front camera.
The Galaxy A33, as a result, has larger bezels.
The Galaxy A33 comes in black, white, pastel blue, and peach color schemes.
The phone has IP67 water and dust resistance and Gorilla Glass 5 on the front, which are improvements over the build quality of the Galaxy A32.
The design of the Galaxy A33 is completed with an optical fingerprint sensor located under the screen.
Display Samsung Galaxy A33
While the Galaxy A53 has a 6.5-inch screen, the Galaxy A33 has a 6.4-inch screen.
Samsung is keeping the Galaxy A32’s 90Hz refresh rate, while other phones such as the Galaxy A53 can refresh at 120Hz, the A33’s faster refresh rate still gives it an edge over the iPhone SE and Pixel 5a’s 60Hz rate.
The screen also has a brightness of 800 nits.
The Galaxy A33 comes with stereo speakers, which is an upgrade over the Galaxy A32.
Cameras Samsung Galaxy A33
There are four cameras on the back of the Galaxy A33.
Unlike the A32, the 48MP primary camera now has optical image stabilization.
Also included are an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. Rounding out the Galaxy A33’s diverse cameras is a 13MP front-facing camera.
The Galaxy A33, like the A53, allows you to take full-resolution images from the 48MP primary lens, instead of 12MP with merged pixels.
Even if it means reduced image brightness, some will like more detailed photos.
Better portrait images are expected as a result of CPU and software upgrades, according to Samsung.
The Galaxy A33 should be able to take better photos in night mode than the iPhone SE.
Night mode is not available on the latest Apple phone.
Samsung Galaxy A33 performance
The Galaxy A33 is powered by Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 1280 processor.
The Galaxy A33 should offer plenty of processing power for a phone in its price range, given that it has the same CPU as the A53.
The A33 has similar functionality to the A53 in that you can add up to 6GB of RAM to the phone’s 8GB of storage.
The A33 supports 5G networks and can hold up to two SIM cards in its SIM tray.
If you want to increase the capacity up to 1TB, you can use a microSD card instead.
Battery life and charging on the Samsung Galaxy A33 phone
The Galaxy A33, like its predecessor, has a 5,000 mAh battery.
A33 supports 25W wired charging, which enables faster charging.
However, since the phone doesn’t come with a charger, you’ll need to provide your own.
Samsung Galaxy A33 phone software
With the Galaxy A33, you’ll get Android 12 with Samsung’s One UI 4.1 overlay.
You can also expect four years of software upgrades, starting with a year of security fixes.
Samsung recently increased support for the phone in response to the growing popularity of its devices.
Samsung Galaxy A33 layout
We now have a more competent mid-range phone with the Galaxy A33 than before.
While I prefer the bigger specs of the Galaxy A53, I’m amazed at how far Samsung has gone with the A33, giving it a faster refresh rate, improved cameras, and other features that are standard on flagship models.
Finally, if you can live with outdated features like the waterdrop notch and thick bezels, the Galaxy A33 might be the best value of the two options.
