You need Microsoft Word, a Microsoft Windows software, in order to view a Microsoft Word document (*.doc).
As a result, MS-DOS is unable to display a Microsoft Word document.
However, by using the following command in an MS-DOS shell, you may launch Microsoft Word and open a Word document.
start mydoc.doc
The Microsoft Word file’s name in this instance is mydoc.doc.
The aforementioned command forces Microsoft Word to launch and open mydoc.doc right away.
