How to start and stop a PowerPoint presentation

You may play a series of slides as a slide show on your computer after generating a set of slides or a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint.

Start a PowerPoint presentation

With PowerPoint, there are three ways to launch a slide show.

  1. Open your presentation after starting Microsoft PowerPoint.
  2. On the Ribbon, select the Slide Show tab.
  3. Click the From Beginning option in the Start Slide Show section to begin the presentation with the first slide.
  4. Choose the slide in your presentation, then click the From Current Slide option under the Start Slide Show section to begin the slide show from a slide other than the first.

or

  1. Open your presentation after starting Microsoft PowerPoint.
  2. Click the Slide Show PowerPoint – Start the slide show icon in the lower-left or lower-right corner of the PowerPoint application window.
    The slide in your presentation that is presently selected is where the slide show begins.

or

  1. Open your presentation after starting Microsoft PowerPoint.
  2. Use the F5 key to begin the slide show on the first slide.
  3. Choose the desired slide in your presentation, then press the Shift+F5 key combination to launch the slide show from a slide other than the first.

Stop a PowerPoint presentation

Use the Esc key to end a slide show that is presently playing in PowerPoint.
The slide show terminates after that, and the PowerPoint software window reappears.
