Start a PowerPoint presentation
With PowerPoint, there are three ways to launch a slide show.
- Open your presentation after starting Microsoft PowerPoint.
- On the Ribbon, select the Slide Show tab.
- Click the From Beginning option in the Start Slide Show section to begin the presentation with the first slide.
- Choose the slide in your presentation, then click the From Current Slide option under the Start Slide Show section to begin the slide show from a slide other than the first.

- Open your presentation after starting Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Click the Slide Show PowerPoint – Start the slide show icon in the lower-left or lower-right corner of the PowerPoint application window.
The slide in your presentation that is presently selected is where the slide show begins.

- Open your presentation after starting Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Use the F5 key to begin the slide show on the first slide.
- Choose the desired slide in your presentation, then press the Shift+F5 key combination to launch the slide show from a slide other than the first.
Stop a PowerPoint presentation
Use the Esc key to end a slide show that is presently playing in PowerPoint.
The slide show terminates after that, and the PowerPoint software window reappears.
