If you detect an app that uses a lot of power, you can change its settings to prevent it from running in the background, which can help you save battery.
Follow these instructions to change the background program activity on Windows 11.
- Open the Settings menu.
- Select System.
- On the right, select the Power and battery page.
- Select an application in the Battery consumption area, then press the menu button (three dots) and select Manage background activity.
Note that you can only change power settings for programs that come from the Microsoft Store.
If you are using the classic desktop program, you will need to go into the settings and change the power settings.
- Choose how the program should work in the background under the Background apps permissions setting :
– Power optimized (recommended).
– Never (Never).
You can also change the Permissions for background apps setting by going to Settings -> Apps and features, selecting a program, clicking the menu button (three dots), clicking Advanced settings, and then changing the Permissions for background apps setting.
