For the entire system or for each program, you may select a separate set of speakers, headphones, or headsets in Windows 11.
Choose the system’s default output
Follow these instructions to modify where the machine should play sound in Windows 11:
- Launch Settings.
- Choose System.
- On the right side, click the Sound page.
- Choose Choose where to play sound under the Output option.
- Choose the headphones, speakers, or headsets you wish to use.
You may also pick a different output device by clicking the Manage audio devices button adjacent to the volume slider when the Quick Settings flyout is open, use the Windows key + A keyboard shortcut.
Choose the application’s default output
Use these methods to make a given application’s default output device.
- Launch Settings.
- Choose System.
- On the right side, click the Sound page.
- Click the Volume mixer setting in the Advanced section.
- Choose the app from the Apps section.
- To choose a different output device, use the Output device setting.
Once you’ve finished the instructions, Windows 11 will start playing noises through the device you chose.
