You may add a header or footer to your documents with Microsoft Word 2007 and later.
These sections are modified separately from the document’s body and continue to appear at the top or bottom of your page.
A page number, the date the document was generated or published, the author’s name or contact information, a graphic, and more may be present.
On the same page, footers and headers can both be used.
Headers are shown at the top of the page.
Adding header and footer
- Click the Insert tab on the ribbon.
- Click Header or Footer in the Header and Footer.
- Pick one of the default templates.
Your document is amended to include the chosen template. - The appropriate text should be added by placing the cursor in the header or footer.
- Click Close Header and Footer on the ribbon whenever you’re done editing.
- Double-clicking a header or footer will launch the header and footer editor, where you may make additional adjustments.
For instance, double-clicking on the header should resemble the illustration below.
Type the text you wish to appear in the header while the cursor is in the header area.
The header automatically appears on each page of your document by default.
Checking Different First Page on the bar at the top of the program window will change the appearance of the first page’s header.
Additionally, you can change the header’s size and whether or not you want it to look differently on odd and even pages under Ribbon’s Header and Footer section.
Double-click the document’s body when you’ve finished altering the header, or you may select the Close Header and Footer option on the ribbon.
Removing the header or footer
